AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door Set For June 26 In Chicago

The first AEW/NJPW joint show

AEW and NJPW will come together for Forbidden Door, their first ever joint pay-per-view card, on Sunday night, June 26 from The United Center in Chicago.

Tony Khan appeared on Wednesday's Dynamite to make the announcement, and welcomed NJPW President and CEO Takami Ohbari for the occasion. But before either man could speak on the announcement, Adam Cole interrupted them from the back. Cole said he should make the announcement, since it wouldn't be possible without him.

After the Forbidden Door reveal, Cole added that on Friday's Rampage, he'll be wrestling Tomohiro Ishii in an Owen Hart Cup qualifier.

Jay White then came out, and said the last time NJPW did a joint show, he "single-handedly" sold out Madison Square Garden (referring to the 2019 G1 Supercard co-hosted by ROH and NJPW). White added that it's not about AEW or NJPW, but about The Undisputed Elite and Bullet Club, because it's still their era.

Tickets for Forbidden Door go on sale on Friday, May 6. No matches have been announced for the card as of yet.
