AEW Officially Signs Wheeler Yuta

Everything's coming up Yuta today

On the same day that Wheeler Yuta won the ROH Pure championship, AEW officially announced that Yuta is officially signed with their organization.

Tony Khan tweeted, "It’s official! He’s the new @ringofhonor Pure Champion, and @WheelerYuta is ALL ELITE!", to go along with the standard signing graphic.

Yuta defeated Josh Woods on Friday's ROH Supercard of Honor pay-per-view in Garland, TX to win the Pure championship. Woods had reigned as champion since September 12, when he defeated Jonathan Gresham at Death Before Dishonor XVIII in Philadelphia.

Yuta began wrestling for AEW in June of 2021. His first match was a loss to Karl Anderson on the June 28 broadcast of Dark: Elevation.

Shortly thereafter, Yuta became a de facto member of Best Friends in the injury absence of Trent Beretta.

Over the past several weeks, Yuta has pulled away from Best Friends, and stood up to a slap from William Regal (following he and Chuck Taylor's loss to Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley). On this past Wednesday's Dynamite, Yuta lost to Danielson in what was an extremely hard-hitting bout.
