AEW's Tony Khan Confirms He's Not Running For Congress

In one of the stranger events of 2022 so far, AEW President Tony Khan was forced to confirm on Thursday that he was not running for Congress. 

A Statement of Candidacy was filed for Khan back in September of 2021 which suggested he planned to run as a Democrat to win the seat of the Fourth District of Florida in the House of Representatives, currently held by Republican John Rutherford. 

Something about the filing appeared to be off, though, as Khan's principal campaign committee was listed as All Elite Wrestling while his address was stated to be 1 TIAA Bank Field, the address of the Jacksonville Jaguars' stadium. Furthermore, Khan was not listed as a candidate for the Fourth District of Florida on the Federal Election of Commission website. 

Nevertheless, it was reported by various NFL and local media outlets that the AEW President was running for Congress, which prompted Khan to issue a rebuttal, noting the Statement of Candidacy was faker than "Eddie Gilbert's apology to Tommy Rich in 1984."

Khan tweeted: "The fact checking standard for @ProFootballTalk reporting is far lower than that of @AEW's roving reporter @tonyschiavone24. I'm definitely not running for Congress; this filing is faker than Eddie Gilbert's apology to Tommy Rich in 1984. PFT sources as trustworthy as @The_MJF."

Beyond his role as President and Booker of AEW, Tony Khan is also heavily involved with the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars and EFL Championship side Fulham FC.
