Booker T Against WWE Unifying The Tag Team Titles

Booker T believes WWE should keep their tag titles separate

The Bloodline are on top of the WWE, with Roman Reigns holding the WWE and Universal Championships, whilst The Usos hold the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Championships.

Rumours of tag title unification were around for several months before The Usos defeated RK-Bro for the Raw Ttitles, but WWE Hall of Famer Booker T is against unification, saying the following on the Hall of Fame podcast:

“I like having at least two tag team belts, one Smackdown, one Raw,” said Booker. “You may not understand what that does to the body of guys trying to do that, but they’re going to have to defend those championships on the house shows, European tours, Monday night, Friday night, and put those guys in position where they got to work all week long.

“I’m thinking about protecting myself and making sure I can have a minute with my family. To have to defend the Tag Team Championship all the time, those guys aren’t going to have no time at home. I’m going to tell you that right now. They’re going to have about one day at home to prepare and one day to get ready to get back on the road.”

Before his singles run at the top of WCW and WWE, Booker was a tag team specialist, holding the WCW World Tag Team Championships on 10 occasions with brother Stevie Ray as Harlem Heat.
