Bron Breakker Wins WWE NXT Championship At New Year's Evil

A new champion for a new era...

Bron Breakker is the new NXT Champion!

Breakker defeated Tommaso Ciampa in the main event of WWE NXT New Year's Evil on Tuesday to win the NXT Championship. The finish of the match came after Breakker kicked out of Ciampa's Fairytale Ending finisher, before hitting a diving bulldog off the second rope and locking in the Steiner Recliner, forcing Ciampa to submit.

The Blackheart of NXT would give Breakker a nod of approval following the match.

Breakker's first major Championship win in NXT comes just 14 matches into his WWE career, having signed for the promotion in February 2021 before making his NXT debut in September.

The son of Rick Steiner and nephew of Scott Steiner, Breakker was joined in the ring by his father to celebrate his victory after NXT New Year's Evil went off the air.

Breakker and Ciampa had both claimed pinfall wins over each other heading into New Year's Evil. Ciampa had successfully defended the NXT Title against Breakker at NXT Halloween Havoc in October, but Breakker had scored the win for Team NXT 2.0 in the Men's WarGames Match in December by pinning the then-NXT Champion.
