Cain Velasquez Released On $1 Million Bail

Velasquez has been released on bail ahead of his trial for attempted murder

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion and ex-WWE star Cain Velasquez has been released from prison on $1 million bail. The decision to release him came following 13 hours of pre-trial hearings over the course of two days.

The mixed martial artist had spent eight months in jail after being arrested on February 28 for attempted murder.

According to reports, Velasquez chased down a truck and attempted to shoot Harry Goularte inside it, injuring Goularte's stepfather (who was also inside the truck). The incident came about after Goularte was charged with sexually assaulting a young relative of Velasquez.

Velasquez later claimed in a civil suit that his own four-year-old son had also been sexually assaulted.

Velasquez had previously been denied bail four times for fear that he would retaliate against the man.

As per the conditions for his bail, Velasquez will have to wear a GPS tracker, cannot come within 300 yards of the alleged victims, must not carry weapons, undergo counselling, and more.

The 40-year-old wrestled one televised match for WWE, suffering a quick loss to Brock Lesnar in the opener of 2019's Crown Jewel. A month later, he teamed with Humberto Carrillo to defeat The OC at a live event in Mexico.

Outside of WWE, Velasquez has wrestled multiple matches for Mexican promotion AAA.
