Christian Cage Details Signing With AEW

Five weeks after he returned to the ring at WWE Royal Rumble, Christian Cage made his All Elite Wrestling debut at Revolution and signed a multi-year deal with the company.

Tony Khan revealed during the post-Revolution media call that Captain Charisma reached out to him about joining the promotion and Christian detailed his signing with AEW during the latest episode of Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette.

"It all happened really quick," Cage admitted. "I wasn't sure how it was going to go after [the Royal Rumble] and all the talks that I had [with WWE] were very cordial. Obviously, I'm good friends with you and I'm good friends with your husband Jon. He talked to me and he had his opinions and stuff like that and it made me kind of think, 'Okay, maybe I am doing myself a disservice if I don't at least explore all my options.' I ended up having a conversation with Tony and it just escalated very quickly. It went very fast. Within a week it was a done deal."

AEW could have been left with egg on their faces following Paul Wight's "hall of fame worthy" announcement, though, as Christian revealed "there was nothing signed" ahead of Dynamite. 

The two-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion also admitted it was difficult to leave WWE, but he wanted the best platform to wrestle and help the next generation and AEW "just felt like the right situation."
