Davey Richards Joins MLW

The former ROH Champion has officially come out of retirement

Former Ring of Honor World Champion Davey Richards has officially come out of retirement and has signed with MLW.

The announcement was made during MLW’s inaugural ‘open Draft’ and will see the former American Wolf back in action, starting with MLW’s next set of tapings in July.

Richards last wrestled in 2017, before officially announcing his retirement in 2020 after years of knee issues. A former ROH Triple Crown winner, and holder of both the IMPACT World Tag Titles, and the IWGP Junior heavyweight Tag Titles, Richards has stated his desire to challenge for the MLW World Heavyweight Title, currently held by Jacob Fatu.

This a good signing for MLW on the back of their television deal with Vice, and comes after earlier rumblings of Richards returning to the squared circle back in April.

The nature of Richards’ deal and schedule are as of yet unknown, but regardless this is a win for MLW. In his prime Richards was considered one of the best wrestlers in the world, with his work in ROH and PWG earning critical acclaim across the board.
