Edge Explains Why He Refused To End The Undertaker's WrestleMania Streak

Edge beating The Streak was pitched in 2008

Before Brock Lesnar broke The Undertaker's WrestleMania undefeated streak in 2014, there were several other superstars earmarked for the honour.

One of those was Edge, who defended his World Heavyweight Championship against The Deadman in the main event of WrestleMania XXIV. Prior to the match, it was at least suggested that the Rated-R Superstar would retain his title and hand The Undertaker his first loss on the Grandest Stage.

Discussing why he refused the suggestion when it was pitched to him during a recent appearance on the IMPAULSIVE podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer said:

"When it was brought to my attention, or at least thrown by me as an option, I just thought 'no', because it was just as important as the world championships at WrestleMania. So why take away one of our marquee attractions?".

Continuing, Edge stated his belief that The Streak should have been ended by a young up-and-comer (not an established main-eventer), such as Roman Reigns:

"I was like, absolutely not. Absolutely not. Like, why would he do that? That makes zero sense to me. I'm already a made man. I'm in the main event of WrestleMania, what's it going to do for me? Sure, it would do something I guess. But let's save that. Let's save that for somebody who can really use that boost. And to me, as the years started going, going, going, I was like [Roman] Reigns is that guy and let's save it for that. But it wasn't my call, obviously"

Even though The Tribal Chief did not break The Streak, he did hand The Phenom his second WrestleMania loss when they met in 2017.
