Excalibur Reveals AEW Commentary Advice From Jim Ross

He has been with AEW since 2019

Excalibur has revealed the advice given to him by veteran commentator Jim Ross since working with him in All Elite Wrestling.

Since retiring from in-ring competition in 2007, Excalibur has mainly worked at the commentary desk, often performing as PWG's only person in the announce booth, before signing with AEW and finding himself regularly flanked by other characters.

Whereas previously Excalibur could fill as much time as he wanted, the 40-year-old has revealed Jim Ross explained to him the importance of choosing his words carefully, showing him that less can be more, particularly when working as a part of a commentary team.

Speaking to Robbie Fox on My Mom's Basement, Excalibur said: "One of the first shows, Jim Ross said to me, 'you have good points, but we don't get paid by the word.'

"When it's a PWG show and I'm calling it by myself, I can ramble on for as long as I need to to make a point. When I have to pass the ball to two other guys, being concise and making a point with an economy of words is something, for live television, I hadn't done a lot of at that point. That's something that really stuck with me."

Excalibur's work with AEW has earned him plaudits from both fans and pundits.
