Heath Details How Vince McMahon Came Up With 'The Corre' Name

It involved napkins and copyright claims

Out of the ashes of The Nexus came The Corre in early 2011, featuring original Nexus members Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater, as well as Ezekiel Jackson.

The stable only lasted for around six months, but they were successful and at one time held possession of the WWE Tag Team and Intercontinental titles in their ranks.

One of their most distinguishing features, however, was their oddly-spelled name.

The significance of the second 'r' was never really explained, but current IMPACT Wrestling star Heath has revealed how the name came about.

During a recent virtual signing with K&S WrestleFest, Heath said "The true story behind it is that Vince McMahon grabbed a napkin, drew a t-shirt on it, and wrote C-O-R-E. But it was copyrighted. So he just said ‘just add another R'"

So there you go. An insight into Vince McMahon's creative process.

Heath has previously disclosed how Ryback was supposed to be a member of The Corre, but was replaced by Jackson after he broke his ankle.
