Hikaru Shida Vs. Britt Baker Announced For AEW Double Or Nothing

The Women's title is on the line

The first match has been announced for AEW Double or Nothing, and it will be for the AEW Women's championship as Hikaru Shida defends her title against Dr. Britt Baker, DMD.

The match was announced early on AEW's Blood and Guts broadcast on Wednesday night.

Shida has reigned as Women's champion since last year's Double or Nothing, on May 23, 2020. There, she defeated Nyla Rose in a no disqualifications match. Since then, Shida has made eight successful defenses of the title.

Baker has only challenged for the AEW Women's title on two occasions. On both occasions, Riho was the defending champion.

In recent weeks, Baker has made a point to close the gap toward the number one contender's spot. After Shida defeated challenger Tay Conti on April 21, Baker came out to establish herself as the new number one contender for Shida's belt.

The current card for AEW Double or Nothing, taking place Sunday, May 30 at Daily's Place in Jacksonville (with a full capacity crowd) is as follows:

* AEW World: Kenny Omega (c) vs. TBA on Wednesday night

* AEW Women's: Hikaru Shida (c) vs. Dr. Britt Baker, DMD
