ICYMI: Chris Jericho Attacks Kenny Omega At NJPW World Tag League Finals

Advantage, Alpha...

Chris Jericho shocked fans of New Japan Pro Wrestling today when he turned up unannounced to attack Kenny Omega, leaving the current IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion a bloody mess.

Moments after Omega and The Young Bucks had seen off the Chaos trio of Roppongi 3K and Rocky Romero in Fukuoka, Japan, another Jericho video played on the tron. This time, Y2J sarcastically applauded Omega and the Bucks for their victory but vowed to win next month at Wrestle Kingdom 12 before the lights went out in the arena. When the lights came back on, and with Omega still looking at the tron, Jericho was stood on the other side of the ring behind him. Chris hit a Codebreaker, and began an assault on the champion with his own belt.

After seeing off a referee and a 'young boy', Jericho delivered a second Codebreaker to Omega before setting his sights on NJPW's English speaking colour commentator Don Callis, who was in the ring seeing to his stricken fellow 'Winnipegian'. The former Truth Commission manager - yes, I've gone there - was on the receiving end of a Codebreaker of his own, forcing him to leave the arena on a stretcher.

Jericho's attack on Callis was drenched in irony as the pair have been friends for over 25 years now, while the announcer a played a massive role in putting this proverbial dream match together.

The attack would end with Jericho rubbing the blood of Omega across his own face and the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship to boot.

Jericho and Omega will clash with the US Title on the line on January 4 at the Tokyo Dome. The match marks the former WWE United States Champion's first bout outside of the company since 1999.

Wrestle Kingdom kicks-off at 5pm in Japan, making it an early morning start of 8am in the UK (3am EST) on New Japan World.
