Issues Between Nick Aldis & NWA Reportedly A Worked Shoot

All a storyline between Nick Aldis and NWA

The National Wrestling Alliance recently made a major change to their NWA 74 pay-per-view as Nick Aldis was pulled from the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title match with Trevor Murdoch and replaced with Tyrus.

NWA owner Billy Corgan claimed Aldis had been removed due to his backstage politicking and a report from PWInsider noted the two-time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion had "magma level heat" in the promotion due to his criticism of Corgan and for promoting himself over the company.

The issues between Nick Aldis and the NWA aren't as they seem, however, and Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Aldis being replaced for NWA 74 was "an attempt at a shoot angle." Some reality may have ended up being a part of the angle but the situation began as a storyline.

At last word, Aldis is still expected to be in action at NWA 74 in a different match. The National Treasure has been NWA's top star over the past five years and he held the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship for a combined 1309 days between December 2017 and August 2021.
