Malakai Black Vs. Buddy Matthews Set For Indie Wrestling Show

Black vs. Matthews in December

Malakai Black and Buddy Matthews will go one on one outside of WWE for the first time later this year.

Independent wrestling promotion Battleground Championship Wrestling have announced that Black and Matthews will square off on Saturday, December 18 at the famous 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Also set for the show is Laredo Kid vs. Drago. Tony Nese, PCO and Rhino are scheduled to appear on the show as well.

Black and Matthews previously had a widely-praised trilogy of matches in late 2019 and early 2020 when they were both in WWE. Black ultimately won all three matches and the two men continued to feud on and off throughout 2020 as part of Black's rivalry with Seth Rollins. Matthews even tried to blind Black which led to the former NXT Champion being written off TV.

Matthews previously competed for Battleground Championship Wrestling on September 18 against KC Navarro. Several AEW wrestlers have also performed for the promotion, including Matt Hardy, Marq Quen, Bear Country and The Gunn Club.
