MLW Officially Serves Lawsuit To WWE

WWE have officially been served with the lawsuit recently filed by Major League Wrestling.

Fightful noted court records show WWE was served with the lawsuit on Wednesday, January 14. WWE have 21 days to respond. 

The next stage in the lawsuit is a few months away with a case management meeting scheduled for April 12. 

MLW filed an anti-trust lawsuit against WWE on January 11, alleging the company had made ongoing attempts to "undermine competition and monopolise the professional wrestling market by interfering with MLW's contracts and business prospects." 

Specific reference was made to MLW's deal with VICE TV and a major streaming deal that would have been transformative for the promotion. 

While it was not mentioned by name within MLW's press release, reports in October of 2021 noted MLW had agreed to a deal with FOX which would have seen MLW programming air on TUBI, the network's streaming service. The deal was set to be announced in August but WWE reacted negatively to the agreement and the future of the MLW-TUBI partnership was "in question" shortly after. 

WWE have issued a statement on the lawsuit, writing: "WWE believes these claims have no merit and intends to vigorously defend itself against them."
