NBA's Dwight Howard Participates In WWE Tryout

NBA star Dwight Howard tries out for WWE

WWE held their latest round of try-outs this past week in Nashville - ahead of this weekend’s upcoming SummerSlam - and amongst the indie wrestling talent and collegiate athletes trying out was none other than NBA star Dwight Howard.

An eight-time NBA All-Star, and former NBA Champion with the 2020 LA Lakers, Howard was said to have been at the try-outs for over five hours, performing in-ring drills and taking part in a promo showcase. The 6’10” Olympic Gold Medalist said he intends to be ringside for SummerSlam and is serious about making the transition to professional wrestling,

A colourful personality on-and-off the court, Howard memorably dressed as Superman for the annual NBA Dunk Contest in 2008, winning the competition to rapturous applause.

If Howard does end up getting in the ring, he’ll be the latest on a list of NBA stars to have tried their hands at pro wrestling, such as Dennis Rodman, Karl Malone, and Shaquille O’Neal.

Whilst Howard is not currently signed to any NBA side, the 36-year-old claims he is not retired.
