Report: Cain Velasquez In Jail After Involvement In Shooting

Former WWE Superstar Cain Velasquez has been jailed after reportedly being involved in a shooting. 

San Jose Police announced on Monday, February 28 that a shooting had been reported at 3:14 pm in Morgan Hill, California. An adult male had been shot at least once and was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A suspect was also taken into custody but the circumstances behind the shooting, nor the motive, were known.  

While San Jose Police did not name the suspect, NBC Bay Area reported the shooting involved Cain Velasquez. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion reportedly lives in the South Bay area. 

Santa Clara County Jail records also show a Cain Velasquez was booked in on February 28. The individual is not allowed bail. 

After a career in UFC, Velasquez initially made his professional wrestling debut in AAA before signing with WWE in 2019. He only had one official match, unsuccessfully challenging Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at Crown Jewel before his release in April 2020. Velasquez returned to AAA in December of 2021.
