Report: Io Shirai Yet To Sign New WWE Deal

Io Shirai could be set to leave WWE. 

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the former NXT Women's Champion's WWE deal expires "next month" and she has not signed the latest contract the company put on the table. Shirai's future also looks to be in further doubt as she told people in Japan that she wants to return there when her WWE contract expires to be closer to her family. 

Should Shirai leave WWE, she would be free to perform in another promotion without any restrictions like a non-compete. There is no expectation within Stardom that The Genius Of The Sky will wrestle for them, though.

Shirai has been a part of WWE since joining the company in 2018 and she has spent her entire run on NXT. The Genius Of The Sky is a former NXT Women's Champion and NXT Women's Tag Team Champion with Zoey Stark. 

The former Stardom star hasn't appeared on WWE TV since NXT Stand & Deliver in April and she is currently out of action with an injury.
