Report: Jeff Jarrett Released By WWE Earlier This Year

Double J is gone from WWE

Jeff Jarrett is no longer working behind the scenes in WWE, according to a new report.

WhatCulture has reported Double J was quietly released by WWE in April. Jarrett is said to be currently under a non-compete clause, but he has already started reaching out to other promotions about bookings. If WWE plans to re-sign Jarrett down the line is currently unknown.

There is no word on when exactly in April Jarrett was released. WWE did let multiple Superstars go that month, including Samoa Joe, Mickie James, Tucker, The IIconics and Kalisto as part of budget cuts.

After an almost 20-year hiatus from the company, Jarrett returned to the WWE fold in 2018 when he was inducted into the organisation's hall of fame. He would then re-sign with the company as a producer in January 2019 and make his in-ring return at the Royal Rumble. This would kick off a short feud with Elias for Double J before he worked full-time backstage.

Jarrett has remained busy since his WWE release with his podcast, 'My World.'
