Report: John Cena Vs. Austin Theory Went 'Way Under Time' At WWE WrestleMania 39

WWE WrestleMania 39 saw the John Cena vs. Austin Theory opener go ‘way under time’

With any live wrestling show, it’s common for matches to run over time, with ensuing matches having to be cut down as a result. What’s not so common is an opening match going under its allotted time, but it seems it happened at WWE WrestleMania 39 night one.

Per a report from Fightful Select, the United States Championship opener between champion Austin Theory and John Cena went ‘way under time’, with Theory defeating Cena in a little over 11 minutes.

Theory’s victory over Cena saw Big Match John continue his losing streak at WrestleMania, with the multi-time world champion having lost his last three Mania bouts, with his last victory coming in a mixed-tag match with Nikki Bella against The Miz and Maryse at WrestleMania 33. Cena’s last singles victory at WrestleMania was his US Title win over Rusev at Mania 31.

The report also states that the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship bout between Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley later that same night went over time, but WWE officials were said to have been very happy with the match.
