Report: Matt Hardy Was Heated After Botched AEW: Dynamite Spot

He needed 13 stitches...

On last week's episode of Dynamite, the rivalry between Sammy Guevara and Matt Hardy intensified as they brawled around the ringside area. During their confrontation, Guevara placed The Unkillable One on a table and then tossed a chair at his head. Matt started to bleed profusely moments later and required 13 stitches to close up the wound.

Bryan Alvarez previously reported on Wrestling Observer Live that Hardy was busted open because Sammy couldn't find the chair he was supposed to use for the spot. He, therefore, decided to improvise which resulted in him throwing a much heavier chair at Matt's head instead.

Fightful Select provided additional details on the incident yesterday. They noted the situation backstage was "chaotic" after the spot and that The Broken One, who is usually very calm, was heated as he felt Sammy's mistake could have resulted in something much worse. Fightful added that multiple people thought The Spanish God's decision to use another chair was reckless but not intentional as Guevara hadn't realised he could have changed the spot on the fly as it was a taped show.
