Report: Original Plans For Jade Cargill To Lose The AEW TBS Title Revealed

Jade Cargill might have lost the AEW TBS Title if it hadn't been for an injury

Jade Cargill remains the longest-reigning champion in All Elite Wrestling since winning the TBS Title on the January 5, 2022 episode of Dynamite in the tournament final. Cargill has defeated the likes of Athena, Willow Nightingale, Kiera Hogan, Anna Jay, and Vertvixen during her one-year-plus reign.

All Elite Wrestling did have plans for Cargill to drop the TBS Title at one point and Kris Statlander was scheduled to beat her for the belt, according to WRKD Wrestling. AEW may also revisit that plan, as Statlander's absence from TV is said to be part of the reason for Cargill's "holding pattern."

"Kris Statlander is expected back soon. She was originally scheduled to be the one to take the title off of Jade Cargill. This is part of the reason for Jade's current 'holding pattern,'" WRKD Wrestling tweeted.

Statlander is currently out of action injured, having suffered a torn ACL and lateral meniscus, and suffered impaction fractures to her tibial and femoral heads in August 2022. She was expected to be on the shelf for six to eight months.
