Sami Zayn has re-signed with WWE, according to a new report.

It had been rumoured in recent months that Zayn had signed a new WWE contract and Fightful Select noted today that is indeed the case. The Great Liberator has signed a new deal that will keep him with the company for the next several years.

WWE reportedly made it known they wanted to retain Zayn, although people within ROH and All Elite Wrestling talent noted there would have been interest in signing the former WWE Intercontinental Champion.

Zayn's previous three-year WWE contract was due to expire in spring 2022. He re-signed with the company in 2018 but nine months was added to the deal while the 37-year-old was on the shelf with a shoulder injury.

After years wrestling for various independent promotions, Zayn signed with WWE in January 2013 and has been with the company for the last nine years.

He quickly established himself as one of the most popular stars in NXT, winning the NXT Title in 2014 before holding it for 62 days. Zayn then moved to the main roster in 2016 and he has had two reigns as Intercontinental Champion.
