Report: The Rock Far From Committed To Working WWE WrestleMania 40

The Rock Is Reportedly Not Fully Committed To A Match At WrestleMania 40

In the build-up to WrestleMania 39, speculation ran rampant about the possibility of The Rock appearing at the event to take on the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns. It didn’t come to fruition of course, with The Rock supposedly not feeling ready enough to compete in the ring.

Eyes have pointed towards WrestleMania 40 instead as a potential setting for a match between The Rock and Roman Reigns, but Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter isn’t too optimistic about this prospect when discussing Reigns’ next challenger/s;

“Reigns had pretty much gone through everyone at the top tier on the roster, and with the exception of Gunther, or of course The Rock. Dwayne Johnson, when he turned down this year due to schedule, did leave a crack in the door open about possibly doing Philadelphia at WrestleMania 40 next year, but that was far from a commitment and certainly nothing anyone should count on happening. There didn’t appear to be another new challenger on the horizon”

It remains to be seen if Reigns will continue to hold his Undisputed Championship all the way until WrestleMania 40 for the possibility of this dream match happening, or if he will drop it before that point.
