Report: Tony Khan's Mention Of CM Punk Not An Accident

Tony Khan mentioned CM Punk on purpose on Busted Open Radio

Could relations between All Elite Wrestling and CM Punk be improving?

The two-time AEW World Champion has been persona non grata from the promotion since his involvement in a backstage fight with Ace Steel, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks following the All Out pay-per-view in early September. Punk was suspended following the altercation and recent reports have noted The Second City Saviour and AEW are in talks over a contract buyout.

Tony Khan suddenly mentioned Punk on Busted Open Radio ahead of Wednesday's episode of AEW Dynamite, though, and Steven Muehlhausen of DAZN reported that the moment "wasn't an accident."

Muehlhausen tweeted: "Sources: Confirmed PW Insiders report that Colt Cabana's appearance on #AEWDynamite was nothing more than a one-off. Also told, it wasn't a shot at CM Punk who was brought up yesterday by Tony Khan on Busted Open and that wasn't an accident."

Khan earlier said on Busted Open Radio: "We've demonstrated the great history of the [Ring of Honor] Championship. Of course, Chris [Jericho] is the champion now, but there have been a lot of great Ring of Honor champions. Some of the big names that have held the title, and some of the great former champions include AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, CM Punk, Claudio Castagnoli, Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens, and many others. So a lot of great wrestlers across Ring of Honor, and people in AEW, people in WWE, New Japan, all over the world, that have held that belt, and it's really one of the most prestigious title lineages in all of wrestling."
