Report: Triple H Shocked WWE Didn't Sign Saraya To New Deal, Offered Her GM Role Following Exit

Saraya had the option to go back to WWE under the new Triple H regime

Saraya might now be All Elite but the former Divas Champion did have the opportunity to return to WWE.

Saraya had been with WWE for 11 years as Paige but the company allowed her contract to expire in July of 2022 and she exited the organisation. According to Fightful Select, Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis decided not to renew Saraya's deal with the company despite the fact her deal was 'surprisingly low.' The old WWE regime also showed no interest in working with her on an in-ring return and they wouldn't sign off on Paige having X-Rays to have her neck checked out.

Vince McMahon resigned as WWE CEO and Chairman on July 22, though, amidst a sexual misconduct and hush money scandal. This changed Paige's prospects of a future in WWE, with it being reported that Triple H was shocked that the previous regime did not sign her to a new deal. The new regime then approached Saraya about a return one month after her deal expired and she was offered a General Manager role on TV. WWE management also said they would make an in-ring return happen if that was what she wanted.

While all signs point to Saraya being on good terms with the new WWE regime, she opted to sign with AEW, reportedly because of the freedom to do outside projects without the promotion taking a cut, as well as other factors of her deal. She made her debut at Dynamite Grand Slam and reports have since noted that The Anti-Diva has been cleared for an in-ring return after she got physical on AEW Dynamite.

Fightful noted that Saraya organised three extensive health checks herself as part of the process of getting cleared for an in-ring return. She was forced to retire in 2018 after suffering a serious neck injury at a WWE house show in December 2017.
