Report: WWE's Plans For The Forgotten Sons Before They Were Pulled From TV Revealed

At the height of the George Floyd protests, SmackDown Superstar Jaxson Ryker left the WWE locker room "fuming" after he tweeted: "Thankful for the ‪@POTUS we have! God bless America. Built of freedom. Forgotten No More." United States President and WWE Hall Of Famer Donald Trump was widely criticised for his response to the protests. 

After the tweet, The Forgotten Sons were pulled from WWE TV and they haven't been seen since. At the time, Sean Ross Sapp at Fightful noted Wesley Blake, Steve Cutler and Ryker were in line to feud with The New Day over the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. Their push couldn't be salvaged, however, even after Blake and Cutler had a meeting with Mark Carrano and other Superstars.

Dave Meltzer provided additional information about The Forgotten Sons' push on Wrestling Observer Radio and revealed they would have defeated Big E and Kofi Kingston for the SmackDown Tag Team Title.

Meltzer said: "It was gonna be tough anyway because of the nature of the gimmick and then how things went. But, man, if I'm Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake, and they disavowed him immediately, but boy, would I not be happy because they were going to get the tag team titles and now we haven't seen hide nor hair of them, and I don't know if we will."

The company ultimately went in a different direction after the tag team was pulled from TV and Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro defeated The New Day for the belts at The Horror Show at Extreme Rules.
