Report: WWE Scrapped Plans To Split Up AJ Styles & Omos During 2021 Draft

Another tag team almost broke up

The Street Profits weren't the only tag team WWE planned to split up during the 2021 draft.

WWE held their annual roster shakeup on October 1 and October 4 and while they kept most of the men's tag teams together, WrestleVotes noted Vince McMahon's company originally planned to break up AJ Styles and Omos. People of power, including a main Raw talent, didn't think Omos was ready to be a singles star yet, however, and the company opted to keep Styles and his personal colossus together.

"WWE had seriously considered breaking the pairing of AJ Styles & Omos during draft. To the point where that was the plan. Until people of power (including a main RAW talent) spoke up & expressed thoughts on how Omos isn't quite ready for singles yet. And they actually listened," WrestleVotes tweeted.

AJ Styles and Omos have been aligned since October 2020 following Styles' move to Monday Night Raw. After months as The Phenomenal One's muscle, Styles and Omos started teaming together from WrestleMania 37, winning the Raw Tag Team Championship in Omos' debut match. They held on to the gold for 133 days until they dropped the title to RK-Bro at SummerSlam.
