Report: WWE SummerSlam 2021 Taking Place In Nevada

Las Vegas, one would assume

WWE SummerSlam appears to have a home, based on a note in Justin Barrasso's latest column for Sports Illustrated.

Barrasso writes that this year's SummerSlam will be held in Nevada, though he doesn't state the city or venue. One would assume Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena is the most likely locale for the event.

Barrasso writes, "There is a sense of optimism throughout WWE for its persistence to run weekly shows throughout the pandemic, especially with the creative outlet of the ThunderDome. Once WWE hits the road, there are no plans to return to the ThunderDome. Weekly travel will then commence for Raw and SmackDown, with the summer storylines built around SummerSlam in August. SI has confirmed SummerSlam will take place in Nevada."

SummerSlam takes place this year on Sunday, August 22. It will be the third overall WWE pay-per-view to be held in front of a crowd this year, after the twi-night WrestleMania 37 in Tampa last month, and July's Money in the Bank (location presently unknown).

This would mark the first time SummerSlam has been held in Nevada, and the first WWE pay-per-view in the state since the Elimination Chamber in 2018.

Speaking of Nevada, the UFC is holding its Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier fight at T-Mobile Arena on July 10, also with fans in attendance.
