Report: WWE Writer Pushed For Finn Balor to Be Used In Drew McIntyre's Role On Raw

Balor was drafted to Raw last night

After losing to WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules, it seemed as though Finn Balor had done all there is to do on SmackDown, and all doubt was removed when the former NXT Champion was drafted over to Raw last night.

Now, reports have emerged that one of WWE’s writing staff was lobbying hard for Balor to be used in Drew McIntyre’s role on Raw, with a tweet from Wrestlevotes suggesting the writer in question “banged the table” for Balor.

Finn was drafted in the fourth round on Monday night, with Raw hosting the second night of the draft. Balor himself had only been back on WWE’s main roster for a few months, after his second stint in NXT.

As to what is meant by ‘Drew McIntyre’s role’ is up for discussion, but one can assume it means using Finn as a prominent member of the main event scene, although not necessarily always in the title picture. Alas, Drew has indeed been in and out of the title scene throughout 2020 and 2021, with the two-time WWE Champion set to face Big E for the title at Crown Jewel.
