Rikishi: Umaga's WWE Hall Of Fame Induction Is "Long Overdue"

While several members of the Anoa'i family have been inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame, including Afa, Sika, Yokozuna, Peter Maivia and Rikishi, Edward 'Umaga' Fatu has not been honoured with a hall of fame induction.

Rikishi, Umaga's brother, seemingly wants that to change, though, and the former Too Cool member believes Umaga's induction is "long overdue."

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Rikishi wrote: "I feel it's long overdue #UmagaHOF class of 2022. What you say @WWEUniverse should my brother go in this year ?? #UmagaClassOf2022."

Edward Fatu had two runs with WWE, first from 2001 until 2003 as Jamal in 3-Minute Warning with his cousin Rosey, before a more successful second run from 2006 until 2009 as Umaga, a Samoan savage.

The Umaga character was immediately pushed on WWE TV following his debut in April 2006 and Fatu went undefeated for several months before suffering his first loss to John Cena in a WWE Title match at New Year's Revolution in January 2007. Umaga continued to experience success in WWE, though, and he twice held the Intercontinental Championship and was Vince McMahon's choice for the Battle Of The Billionaires at WrestleMania 23, which featured Donald Trump. 

Fatu would remain with WWE until his release in June 2009 for his second violation of the company's wellness policy and refusal to enter rehab. 

He passed away a few months later on December 4, 2009, after suffering a heart attack from "acute toxicity due to the combined effects of hydrocodone, carisoprodol and diazepam."
