Scott D'Amore Teases Keiji Mutoh GHC Heavyweight Title Defence In IMPACT Wrestling

At last week's Destination 2021 show, Keiji Mutoh reached the top of the mountain in Pro Wrestling NOAH and defeated Go Shiozaki for the GHC Heavyweight Championship. In the process, Mutoh followed in the footsteps of Kensuke Sasaki and Yoshihiro Takayama to become only the third man in history to have held the three major titles in Japan. 

In a press conference following the victory, Mutoh mentioned that he had been contacted about defending the GHC Heavyweight Title in the United States and believed it was IMPACT who got in touch. He admitted he wasn't 100 percent sure, but Scott D'Amore seems keen to have the new champion return to IMPACT. 

D'Amore tweeted: "Congratulations to Mutoh-san for winning the GHC. He is an all time legend. If he can defeat my student @noah_kiyomiya in Fukuoka then maybe he can come to @IMPACTWRESTLING and defend to the title. Maybe against his former partner and my student @bigjoedoering ?#IMPACTonAXSTV." 

He then added: "This isn't a bad idea at all! If I recall right @TheEddieEdwards is the only American to ever hold the GHC. Two time champ maybe?"

If Mutoh will face Eddie Edwards or Joe Doering in IMPACT Wrestling remains to be seen, but the four-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion must overcome Kaito Kiyomiya on March 14 first.
