Several AEW Stars Appear On WWE Raw

AEW stars appeared on WWE Raw for John Cena’s 20th anniversary

The June 27 edition of WWE Raw was a celebration of 20 years of John Cena in WWE, with the multi-time WWE Champion returning to the company for the first time since Summer 2021.

Throughout Raw, various WWE stars past and present paid their respects to Cena, including several talents who now work for All Elite Wrestling.

The likes of Bryan Danielson, Paul Wight (The Big Show), and Chris Jericho all appeared via video to congratulate Cena on his career, with Danielson and Wight appearing for the first time on WWE programming since 2021, and Jericho for the first time since 2018.

According to a report from Fightful Select, the process of getting the AEW stars to appear on Raw was ‘very straightforward’, with Tony Khan reportedly being the one who gave the go-ahead on AEW’s side. A WWE source told Fightful that they were able to land ‘virtually everyone’ they wanted.

This sort of cross-promotional appearance is usually a foreign concept for WWE, but with IMPACT’s Mickie James appearing in the 2022 Royal Rumble, and WWE’s AJ Styles sending a congratulatory message for IMPACT’s 20th anniversary at Slammiversary 2022, it appears as if the WWE are softening their stance a little.
