Sharmell To Be Inducted Into WWE Hall Of Fame

Sharmell is the newest inductee into the WWE Hall Of Fame class of 2022, Complex reported today. 

The 51-year-old joins The Undertaker and Vader in the class of 2022. The ceremony will be held on Friday, April 1 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, following that night's edition of Friday Night SmackDown. 

Sharmell told Complex after finding out about her induction: "I was so happy. I didn't even know what to say. It was an unexpected, great surprise - a welcome surprise."

Sharmell began her professional wrestling career as one of World Championship Wrestling's Nitro Girls as Storm and she remained with the promotion until 2001, joining WWE on a developmental deal just before Vince McMahon bought WCW. 

Sharmell remained with WWE until 2002 and she re-signed with the promotion in 2005, appearing on-screen with her real-life husband Booker T. 

Over the next year, Sharmell would be sexually harassed by Kurt Angle and receive a kiss from The Boogeyman while he had a face full of worms but her most successful spell in the company followed. 

After Booker T won the 2006 King Of The Ring Tournament, he would be renamed King Booker with Queen Sharmell at his side and he would win the World Heavyweight Championship at Great American Bash. Booker then held the gold until Survivor Series 2006 before losing it to Batista.

Sharmell, along with Booker T, remained with WWE until late 2007 when they jumped to TNA. Sharmell stayed with the promotion until 2009 and she was infamously involved in the worst-rated women's match of all time, with Dave Meltzer awarding her Victory Road 2009 match against Jenna Morasca -4 stars.
