Spoilers: New Matches Set For WWE NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool

Tapings were held in Liverpool over the weekend...

WWE NXT UK held tapings at the Liverpool Olympia over the weekend, with a number of matches confirmed for the newly announced TakeOver: Blackpool event which will take place on 12 January at the Empress Ballroom.

The new matches announced for the first NXT UK TakeOver are Eddie Denis vs. 'The Bomber' Dave Mastiff in a no-disqualification match, while the team of Zack Gibson and James Drake will take on Moustache Mountain for the vacant NXT UK Tag Team Championships.

The new matches come after it was announced by Triple H that TakeOver Blackpool is indeed happening. The internet went into overdrive with rumour and innuendo over the weekend after a number of ticketing websites listed tickets being available for an NXT UK event at the Empress Ballroom on 13 January. A show called NXT: Aftermath was also listed for the previous day, though given the name, it seemed liked there was an error.

The Game cleared up all confusion by confirming that TakeOver will take place in the 12th, with Aftermath tapings taking place the following night.

This will be the second TakeOver event hosted in the United Kingdom, following on from 2015's TakeOver: London event at Wembley Arena.

Here's how the card is shaping up for WWE NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool at the time of writing:

  • NXT UK Champion Pete Dunne vs. Joe Coffey

  • NXT UK Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley vs. Toni Storm

  • Vacant NXT UK Tag Team Title Match: Zack Gibson and James Drake vs. Moustache Mountain

  • Eddie Dennis vs. Dave Mastiff – No DQ Match
