Sting Returning To In-Ring Action At AEW Double Or Nothing 2021

His last in-ring match was in 2015

Sting will make his in-ring return, wrestling his first live match in almost six years, when he teams with Darby Allin to face Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page at AEW Double Or Nothing.

The two teams had a confrontation on Wednesday's AEW Dynamite following events in recent weeks, which included Allin being thrown down a flight of concrete stairs by the duo.

Wednesday's face-off ended when Page was ejected from the ring while Sting locked Sky in the Scorpion Deathlock, while the match was made official for Double Or Nothing a little later in the show.

The bout will feature Sting wrestling in a ring, in front of a live audience, for the first time since September 2015. The Icon's last match saw him challenge Seth Rollins for the WWE Championship at WWE Night Of Champions, during which he suffered a severe neck injury.

In 2016, Sting would announce his retirement from in-ring competition, but it appears he has since rescinded that, having featured in a physical capacity since signing for AEW last year.

Most recently, the 62-year-old teamed with Allin to defeat Team Taz in a Cinematic Street Fight at AEW Revolution.
