Tetsuya Naito Reveals He Was Not Invited To AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door

Tetsuya Naito has been left "genuinely upset"

The joint Forbidden Door pay-per-view between All Elite Wrestling and NJPW featured plenty of top stars from Japan, including the likes of Kazuchika Okada, Jay White, Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Shingo Takagi, but one major name in Tetsuya Naito was not booked for the event.

There was no official reason given for Naito's absence but the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion has taken to his NJPW Diary and revealed he was not invited to the event, something that has left him "genuinely upset."

"Unfortunately I was not invited to the 'AEW x NJPW' show that is being talked about all over the place. Not invited = not needed. Right? Because of that frustration, I haven't watched any footage of this show. I'm genuinely upset about it," Naito wrote.

Naito recently returned to the ring after undergoing eye surgery but if that affected his ability to travel to the United States for Forbidden Door is unknown.

Los Ingobernables de Japon were represented at Forbidden Door by Shingo Takagi. The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion teamed with Sting and Darby Allin as the Dudes With Attitudes and they defeated The Young Bucks and El Phantasmo.
