Title Change At NJPW Strong Collision In Philadelphia Taping

Following Saturday's Capital Collision pay-per-view, New Japan Pro-Wrestling held their 'Collision In Philadelphia' taping at the famous 2300 Arena on Sunday, May 15. Matches taped at the show will air on future editions of NJPW Strong. 

Not only did the event feature the likes of Minoru Suzuki and Hiroshi Tanahashi in action, but a championship also changed hands.

'Filthy' Tom Lawlor defended his Strong Openweight Title against Fred Rosser and if Mr No Days Off lost, he would be forced to leave NJPW Strong.

Fortunately for the former Darren Young, he defeated Lawlor to capture the championship, picking up the win by submission with a chicken wing. The crowd then joined Rosser in a "Thank you grandpa" chant as his 87-year-old grandfather was in attendance. 

NJPW introduced the Strong Openweight Championship last year and Lawlor was the belt's inaugural champion, winning a tournament in April of 2021. Lawlor successfully defended the gold on nine occasions.
