Tony Khan Still Thinking About Introducing An AEW Trios Title

Will the title ever be introduced?

Tony Khan is still considering introducing an AEW Trios Championship at some point in All Elite Wrestling's future.

The AEW president first mentioned he was thinking about debuting the title in 2020 and the likes of The Young Bucks, Evil Uno and Santana and Ortiz have all pushed for the belt over the last year.

Khan once again addressed the possibility of a Trios Championship during the pre-All Out media call and he admitted the title would "really kick ass."

"We see matches sometimes that don't always have title implications, but absolutely I think it would be great to add Trios Titles," Khan said. "Right now, it's a lot of stuff that I'm getting in three hours and I take a lot of pride in covering a lot in a two-hour Dynamite and then Rampage is very different, it's a more focused one-hour show. They are very different formats. You still get great wrestling in both shows, but I also cover a lot of stories in Dynamite in a different way than I would with Rampage. It's a lot right now. As we grow as a company, I do think there is definitely a place for that and there is a place for championships to expand.

"Right now, we have great titles and I have thought about other championships, including a Trios Championship among others. We've had a lot of great trios matches. To be honest, I bet I used to do more trios matches than I have lately. I haven't done a study of the numbers, but my gut says I used to do more trios matches at Daily's Place than I do now, but I could be wrong. It feels that way. I'm still into doing trios matches, we've seen a lot on Dynamite over the years. It doesn't feel like I'm leaning on it as much as I used to. There are reasons for that. We've been showcasing a lot of stories and story matches. There is a time and a place for everything and we have a lot of great trios, undoubtedly. I think a Trios Championship would really kick ass. It does make a lot of sense and I've spent a lot of time thinking about it."
