Triple H Comments On WWE's Expansion Into India

What's next for the global localisation strategy?

WWE Superstar Spectacle will be broadcast tomorrow at 2:30 pm GMT on the Sony Sports Network in India and the WWE Network around the world. The event will showcase WWE's Indian talent alongside the likes of Drew McIntyre, Finn Balor and Charlotte Flair.

This will be the next stage of WWE's global localisation strategy and Triple H recently confirmed to The Hindustan Times that the long-term goal is to start an NXT India brand.

"We have been trying to find athletes since 2014 who could become local Indian WWE stars with a long-term goal of starting a WWE NXT India. The pandemic delayed that project. We are at a point now where we believe we have athletes ready or getting ready to take that big stage. If we could do that in person, we would be in India doing it," The Game said.

The WWE executive went into more detail about the company's plans during an interview with The Hindu and revealed they would love to open a Performance Center in India.

"The intent and desire is to come to India and recruit enough athletes. Certainly, there is a desire amongst Indian people for us to be on the ground as well. At some point, we would love to have a performance centre, or more than one centre, in India... have athletes train there and produce localised WWE content. When you see talents from your region succeed locally to get to the bigger stages, and to watch their careers develop... that is the goal. Because the only thing bigger than WWE in India is cricket. That's something to be said," Triple H stated.
