Triple H Discusses The Problems WWE Had Filming The Boneyard Match At WrestleMania 36

Production was anything but smooth...

The Boneyard match between The Undertaker and AJ Styles has been widely praised within the professional wrestling world and many consider it to have been the highlight of WrestleMania 36.

The match was so successful both Money In The Bank Ladder matches will be cinematic contests, and Vince McMahon told investors during the Q1 2020 results conference call that the company will do more "mini movies" in the future.

Triple H revealed on the After The Bell podcast that filming the match was anything but easy as the production crew initially only had one camera. The 14-time world champion explained he only managed to get a bigger production team after he drafted in Jeremy Borash and the NXT Digital Team, and they ultimately changed course slightly and made the shoot more cinematic.

The King Of Kings said: "I get to our tech people and I'm like, 'So, how many people do I have on a crew for this?' The camera crew, and they were like, 'Right now, I've got you one camera and I'm trying to get you a second.' And I was like, 'That don't work.' So, I called up higher than that and was told, 'Yeah, no, we're shooting WrestleMania right now. I can get you one but I'm trying to get you a second.' So, I then went to Vince and I pitched him the concept and the idea and he was like, 'I love it, that sounds awesome.' And I said, 'Well, problem is right now I have one camera, and he was like, 'You can't do it with one camera.'

He later added: "My solution was to use the digital team from NXT, Jeremy Borash and a team of digital shooters that we use there. It's a different format and I said, 'Look we can shoot it with them, and we can do it cinematic style and I can bring a bunch of cameras and I can shoot it all at once. I'll shoot it like a film. I'll shoot it in a different format and I believe we can create something special with this… Most everybody else was against it. Vince was like, 'Well, I don't see that we have much choice, so that's what we're going to do.'"
