Report: Two WWE NXT Superstars Were Set To Be At This Week's SmackDown Tapings

The tapings were shortened...

WWE is continuing to build towards SummerSlam 2020 and the company was set to tape the next two episodes of Friday Night SmackDown yesterday. However, reports from Gary Cassidy at Sportskeeda and Sean Ross Sapp at Fightful Select confirmed the wrestling behemoth scrapped its plans to tape two shows and instead only filmed this week's edition of the blue brand and an episode of 205 Live. Why the company decided not to do a double taping is currently unknown, but Cassidy noted he had been told the chaos at Monday's Raw tapings may have been the reason for the change.

Two NXT Superstars were also set to appear at the tapings as Sapp revealed Killian Dain and Danny Burch were scheduled to be involved in King Corbin's ongoing storyline. Sapp noted he didn't know if the angle was taped as planned or if it had been scrapped.

Both NXT Superstars have appeared on the main roster in the past. Burch previously teamed with Oney Lorcan on the April 6, 2020, episode of Raw against Ricochet and Cedric Alexander, while The Beast Of Belfast had a year-long run on the blue brand as part of SAnitY.
