Why Tony Schiavone Disappeared From AEW Dynamite

Tony Schiavone went missing on AEW Dynamite

While he was on the call alongside Excalibur and Taz at the beginning of AEW Dynamite, Tony Schiavone ended up disappearing during Wednesday night's show from Buffalo, New York.

After a fan on X asked about what happened to him, Schiavone revealed that he stepped away from the announce table after losing his voice, something he had been struggling with all weekend.

"Lost my voice. It was giving me problems all weekend. Thanks for asking," Schiavone wrote.

Schiavone has been a part of All Elite Wrestling since 2019 and is on the call for all three of AEW's televised shows in Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision. The former WCW announcer provides colour commentary on Dynamite and Rampage while he is on play-by-play duties on Collision alongside Nigel McGuinness on colour.

Schiavone had the option to sign with WWE in 2019 but he ultimately chose to join AEW, partly because he believed Vince McMahon wanted to bring him in simply so he could fire him.

Schiavone's broadcast colleague Jim Ross is currently away from AEW programming. JR had planned to return for Sunday's Forbidden Door pay-per-view but he was hospitalised due to difficulty breathing.
