William Regal Reveals WWE Pitched For Him To Have An American Accent

The writer didn't last long following the pitch to William Regal

Ex-WWE star William Regal has revealed that a former WWE writer once pitched that his character develop an American accent.

While discussing a multitude of topics on his Gentleman Villain podcast, Regal recalled:

"I remember once when one of the creative people in WWE said to me, 'Can you do an American accent?'. It was his idea and only his idea. He didn't last long there. His idea was to change the character of me to make me American. I was like, 'That doesn't make sense whatsoever'. It was one of the few times that I actually said 'no' to anything".

One of the defining aspects of Regal's character throughout his in-ring career was his championing of British values and disdain for America.

In 2002 he even went as far as to join the anti-USA Un-Americans group with Canadian trio Test, Lance Storm and Christian.

Regal now finds himself in All Elite Wrestling as part of the Blackpool Combat Club with Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, and Wheeler Yuta.
