WWE Announces Kofi Kingston Has A Broken Jaw

The former WWE Champion is on the shelf

On last night's edition of Monday Night Raw, Xavier Woods went one on one with RETRIBUTION's T-Bar. The 10-time WWE Tag Team Champion surprisingly headed to the ring alone and WWE announced that Kofi Kingston is currently on the shelf with a broken jaw.

The Raw commentary team stated the former WWE Champion suffered the injury in the last few weeks. The New Day's last match on the red brand was on January 4 when they defeated longtime rivals The Miz and John Morrison. Before that, they were entwined in a feud with The Hurt Business over the Raw Tag Team Title. Kingston and Woods dropped the belts to Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin at the TLC pay-per-view on December 20.

Kingston talked about the jaw injury on Instagram and said he can only close his mouth on one side at the moment.

He said: "First and foremost, I've got to apologise because I feel like I'm talking out of the side of my mouth... I'm dealing with a jaw injury right now and my mouth is only closing on one side. So if I sound kind of funny, that's why."

How long Kingston will be out of action for is currently unknown, but NXT Champion Finn Balor recently spent three months on the shelf after breaking his jaw at NXT TakeOver: 31.
