WWE Makes Change To King Of The Ring Due To Injury

Talent pulled from WWE King of the Ring

WWE have made another change to the King of the Ring tournament, with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis announcing that Bobby Lashley has been pulled from the tournament due to injury. Lashley has been replaced by his stablemate Angelo Dawkins, who will face Tama Tonga in the first round of King of the Ring on Friday's episode of SmackDown.

"Good afternoon WWE Universe it's your SmackDown GM Nick Aldis with an update and some slightly unfortunate news ahead of tomorrow's SmackDown. As many of you know, Bobby Lashley was set to take on Tama Tonga in the King of the Ring but I have been informed that Bobby has suffered an injury during training and is going to be unable to compete. He has not been medically cleared to compete in that match tomorrow night. So, unfortunate news for Bobby Lashley but a fortunate opportunity for the man taking his place. And that man, I have decided, will be Angelo Dawkins of The Steet Profits,Nick Aldis said on X.

The King of the Ring and Queen of the Ring tournaments got underway on the May 6 edition of Monday Night Raw and both competitions are set to conclude with the finals at the WWE King & Queen of the Ring pay-per-view on Saturday, May 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

First-round matches from the SmackDown brackets will begin on Friday's show. The following matches are scheduled to take place:

  • Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles - King of the Ring
  • Tama Tonga vs. Angelo Dawkins - King of the Ring
  • Bianca Belair vs. Candice LeRae - Queen of the Ring
  • Jade Cargill vs. Piper Niven - Queen of the Ring
  • Naomi vs. Nia Jax - Queen of the Ring
