WWE NXT Results - August 24, 2021

Following the events of TakeOver 36, WWE NXT returned to the Capitol Wrestling Center for the first of three taped shows. 

The August 24 episode opened up with a championship celebration between new Million Dollar Champion Cameron Grimes and Ted DiBiase. Both men revelled in Grimes' win over LA Knight at TakeOver 36 and money rained down from the ceiling to end the opening segment of the show. 

That wouldn't be Grimes and DiBiase's only appearance during the broadcast, though. The cameras caught up with both men later in the episode as Grimes tried to give the Million Dollar Title back to the WWE Hall Of Famer. After a back and forth exchange, Grimes appeared to accept the title from the Million Dollar Man but the champion quickly realised it was a WWE shop replica as DiBiase sped away. Instead of being upset, though, Grimes simply said with a wry smile, "That god damn Ted DiBiase." 

New NXT Champion Samoa Joe also appeared during the broadcast and Pete Dunne, LA Knight and Kyle O'Reilly stepped forward to make their case for a title shot. The segment quickly descended into chaos, though, and a brawl broke out featuring Ridge Holland and Tommaso Ciampa as well after Holland attacked O'Reilly from behind. 

That wasn't the only big event for Pete Dunne's faction, though, as after Ridge Holland defeated Timothy Thatcher in the opening contest, Danny Burch returned to NXT and helped his stable beat down Toothless Tim and Tommaso Ciampa in a post-match attack. 

In the main event of NXT, Legado del Fantasma squared off with Hit Row in a six-man tag team match. Both teams fought back and forth in a good match but it was Legado del Fantasma who came away with the win after their latest member revealed themselves.

In the final moments, B-Fab sent Escobar crashing into the ring post. Elektra Lopez suddenly appeared, though, and decked B-Fab with a pipe, which gave Escobar time to recover and roll up a distracted Isaiah "Swerve" Scott for the victory. 

Elsewhere on NXT, Carmelo Hayes defeated Odyssey Jones to win the NXT Breakout Tournament, Kay Lee Ray squashed Valentina Feroz, Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter overcame Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne, and the debuting Xyon Quinn pinned Boa following a distraction from Mei Ying.
