WWE Raw Results - April 26, 2021: Braun Strowman Vs. Drew McIntyre, RKBro In Action

Another Raw to forget

After two dreary editions of Monday Night Raw over the past couple of weeks, the April 26 show wasn't quite as terrible but it was still an episode to forget for the red brand.

Raw was scheduled to open with Mace and T-Bar vs. Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman. The Scottish Warrior and Braun couldn't get on the same page backstage, though, and Strowman marched to the ring for a handicap match so he could prove that he was better than Drew.

Strowman ultimately fared no better than McIntyre did last week, however, and T-Bar and Mace dominated much of the action before they were disqualified for beating down The Monster Among Men in the corner.

The former RETRIBUTION men continued their attack after the bell and McIntyre made the save for Strowman for some reason which led to the originally scheduled tag team match taking place after the first commercial break of the night.

Both teams fought back and forth during the short match, but it all went downhill for McIntyre and Strowman down the stretch. After Braun decked Mace with his Running Shoulder Tackle on the outside, he continued his charge to do the same to T-Bar. McIntyre went to Clothesline the former Dominik Dijakovic at the same time, though, and inadvertently caught Strowman after T-Bar ducked. T-Bar then threw Drew over the barricade and the former WWE Champion failed to get back in the ring before the count of 10.

The drama between McIntyre and Strowman continued after the bell as Braun put The Scottish Warrior down with a Running Powerslam. This led to Drew's weekly catch-up with Adam Pearce where he demands a match. This time, McIntyre asked for a match with Strowman and Pearce scheduled it for the main event.

Following the opening segment, fans were treated to the latest edition of Miz TV with guests Elias and Jaxson Ryker. John Morrison was back this week and all four men sang 'Hey Hey Hop Hop' before Damian Priest and The New Day interrupted and threw tomatoes at them.

This led to the scheduled six-man tag team match after the break as The Miz teamed with Elias and Jaxson Ryker against Damian Priest and The New Day. The match surprisingly went 16 minutes and the babyfaces picked up the win after Xavier Woods surprised Ryker with an inside cradle for the 1-2-3.

Next on the show was Charlotte Flair's return. Sonya Deville snuck Flair into the building before the commercial break and after the broadcast returned, the WWE official invited The Queen and referee Eddie Orengo to the ring.

Flair apologised to WWE, the fans and Orengo for "manhandling" him on last week's show, an apology which the referee accepted. He then acknowledged that he didn't see Rhea Ripley interfere in last week's match and if he had, Flair would have won the match. How Orengo can predict the future went unexplained.

With the matter seemingly settled, Deville lifted Flair's suspension and announced the 13-time women's champion would be in action later in the show. The segment then came to an end after Flair demanded an apology from Orengo, which the official reluctantly did.

An authority figure rivalry also appears to be on the cards as Pearce confronted Sonya at the gorilla position after the segment. Deville said she was sorry but Pearce didn't believe her.

Pearce then quickly scampered to his office during the next commercial break and Braun Strowman entered the room once the broadcast returned. After a brief discussion, a stipulation was added to the main event. If Strowman beat McIntyre, he would be added to the WWE Title match at WrestleMania Backlash.

Next in the ring was another segment as Sheamus recalled the events of last week and announced another open challenge. Humberto Carrillo answered once again and the third-generation luchador had better luck than last week. Sheamus initially put down Carrillo, but Humberto got straight back up and knocked the United States Champion to the floor. Carrillo then repeatedly stopped Sheamus from climbing back into the ring and he sent The Celtic Warrior flying over the announce table with a Suicide Dive to end the segment.

Following Sheamus' embarrassment, Bobby Lashley and MVP headed to the ring. The All Mighty and Porter said any changes to the WWE Title picture without their input were disrespectful before Lashley declared he would leave WrestleMania Backlash with the gold even if it was a Triple Threat.

Next up was a backstage interview with Riddle. The Original Bro reflected on his win over Orton on last week's show and called himself a "sexy little mongoose" in the process. The Viper then appeared and he acknowledged that Riddle earned his respect last week. Orton then admitted RKBro was a "little" catchy and although the former United States Champion continued to annoy him, Randy said they could have a chat about matching speedos if everything went well in their first match.

Before that match, though, Angel Garza gave Nia Jax some flowers and The Irresistible Force was smitten. Jax then spotted Mandy Rose and smashed her over the head with the flowers, which would come back to haunt her later in the show.

It was then time for RKBro's debut and they teamed together against Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin. The former Raw Tag Team Champions worked over Riddle for the first few minutes, but RKBro eventually got going and they picked up the win after Orton decked Benjamin with a Draping DDT and Riddle followed up with the Floating Bro. Riddle then tried to celebrate with Orton after the match but The Viper headed backstage while doing his best not to corpse.

Next on the agenda was Lana, Naomi and Asuka vs. Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler and Rhea Ripley. The match was quickly interrupted by Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke's latest distraction as they strutted to the ring and tossed a bucket of water over Shayna Baszler when she moved to confront them. Nia Jax then tried to come to her tag team partner's aid and ended up slipping in the pool of water.

Everyone at ringside found this positively hilarious and the two teams had an enjoyable match once Rose and Brooke retreated backstage. After 11 minutes, the team of champions secured the victory after Jax put Lana away with a Leg Drop.

Rose and Brooke's actions then caught up with them after a commercial break. Sonya Deville interrupted their laughing session and announced Rose would face Charlotte Flair as a punishment.

Before the match, though, we had the latest edition of Alexa's Playground. Bliss tried to hypnotise the audience at home and the segment ended after the five-time women's champion announced she was going to let Lily play with the rest of WWE.

Charlotte Flair vs. Mandy Rose followed with Eddie Orengo as the referee. Both women put together a fine five-minute match and Flair picked up the win with Natural Selection.

It was then time for the main event. Braun Strowman and Drew McIntyre fought back and forth as Lashley and MVP watched on from ringside, but the match became messy during the finish.

Strowman went for a Running Powerslam down the closing stretch but Lashley tried to prevent the WrestleMania Backlash match from becoming a Triple Threat and hopped on the apron, distracting the official. While this was going on, MVP pulled McIntyre from Braun's shoulders and Drew capitalised with a Futureshock DDT.

The Scottish Warrior then set up for the Claymore but T-Bar and Mace suddenly appeared and distracted Drew. It was then Strowman's turn to capitalise on a distraction and he hoisted McIntyre up for the Running Powerslam and the victory.

Now, the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania Backlash will be Bobby Lashley vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Braun Strowman.
