WWE's Ivar Says Neck Injury Could Have Ended His Career

Ivar suffered a serious neck injury last September

Ivar of the Viking Raiders has revealed he thought the neck injury he suffered in September 2020 might end his career.

Ivar, competing in an eight-man tag-team match on the September 7 2020 edition of Monday Night Raw, sustained a serious injury when he dived through the ropes, causing the match to be ended early. He underwent surgery on his neck injury a week later, before returning to action in April of this year.

Ivar and tag-team partner Erik faced AJ Styles and Omos in a losing effort at Money In The Bank on Sunday but, despite not winning the Raw Tag Team Championships, Ivar was delighted to perform in front of a live WWE crowd again after being concerned just a few months ago that his career could come to an end.

Writing on Twitter, Ivar said: "There are many ways to measure success. Last night we lost the match…in September of 2020, we didn’t know if I would ever be able to step thru the ropes again and live this dream.

"On a historic night, alongside my best friend, we performed in front of the WWE Universe and gave it our all. I am incredibly proud of what Erik and I accomplished last night and am forever grateful for the love and support from the WWE Universe. To be able to share that moment with my best friend and all of the fans once again is the greatest success.

"Thank you WWE Universe!….that being said, we still coming for those titles!"
